Palmistry is a science, which can forecast the future of an individual. The creatorthe Almighty has written what we want to know in our hand. The word Palmistry is derived from English word Palme meaning palm and estrie is probably from the old French word maistrie, the art of reading a persons character/ future from the hand.

The human brain is divided into left and right hemispheres connected by a broad nerve cable and lesser bridges called corpus callosum. The right part of the brain controls the left side of the body and left part of the brain controls the right side. The right part of the brain is inferior to the left in certain aspects like power of speech and ability to communicate. The left part of the brain deals with intelligence and judgement with great perception power.In palmistry both the hands are to be examined to tell about the characteristics of an individual, the past and the future.

To study Palmistry we divide the study of hand into two parts :-
1.CHIROGNOMYdealing with the hand and fingers relating to hereditary traits of character and temperament.
We will therefore proceed with Chirognomy to determine the different Shape of hands with their various modifications, in their relation to temperament and character. Shape of hands is again sub-divided into two primary parts :-
	i. Shape of Hands.
	ii.Thumb and Fingers.
2.CHIROMANCYit interprets the lines and marks on the hand to predict the past and the future.
In Chiromancy we study the symbols and lines found in the palm. Cheiromancy is again sub - divided into two primary parts :-
	i.Mounts of Hand.
	ii.Lines of Hand.
Thus in all we have divided the study of palmistry into four main parts :-
	i.Shape of Hands
	ii.Thumb, Figures & Nails
	iii.Palm and Mounts
	iv.Lines of Hand
